After seemingly endless hints that Sony would be putting out either a State of Play or Showcase event by the end of the month, it’s now official.

The official PlayStation Twitter (X) account put out a tweet announcing that a 30-minute State of Play will be broadcast on May 30, 3pm PT/6pm ET/11pm BST.

While the tweet doesn’t specify what games will be shown, it does state that we will get a look at “PlayStation Studios titles arriving later this year.”

Previously, PlayStation has been quite clear that no new games in any of their major existing franchises will be launching before March of 2025. However, that still leaves room for new IP like the upcoming Concord, which Sony mentioned in their financial report will be releasing this year.

There have also been some rumours about a new Astro Bot game appearing at this State of Play.

And while no new major existing franchises may be launching this year, that doesn’t mean they can’t be shown off. My hopes are for Ghost of Tsushima 2, but there are plenty of other possibilities, too. What have Bend Studios been up to, for example?
