This article will contain spoilers for Until Dawn and the upcoming Until Dawn remake. You have been warned.

According to an insider and new leaks for upcoming Until Dawn remake, a sequel to the narrative-driven horror game is in the works at FireSprite.

This news story begins with the remake of Until Dawn which is being developed by the folks over at Ballistic Moon, which is itself full of developers from Supermassive who made the original game. While the remake isn’t due out for a number of hours yet, people managed to get hold of the game early and have been hard at work spoiling the story.

As shown in videos taken by people who have already finished the remake, the game’s ending has been heavily reworked and added to. The new finale adds a new scene for Josh, who in the original game would either die or be found transformed into a Wendigo. The new version of the ending seen in the remake thoough, reveals that he has somehow survived the encounter. As the camera pans over Josh a voiceover from Dr Hill talks about finding redemption, and at the very last second we see what looks like flashlights coming Josh’s way, implying he’s going to be rescued.

The next change comes in the post-credits scene where Sam is shown living in LA years later. Her bedside table is covered in pill bottles, and she seems to be suffering from hallucinations. She sees blood coming down her arm and she can’t stop the bleed. Suddenly, a strange voice calling her name causes Sam to jump.

These two new scenes would seem to heavily imply that Ballistic Moon is setting up for a sequel, which would not be surprising when you consider there’s also an official Until Dawn movie coming out.

According to insider Shpeshal_Nick, a sequel is exactly what’s happening. Surprisingly though, he reckons its FireSprite that is making it, not Ballistic Moon.

There are a few past reports backing up Nick’s claim. For example, earlier this year Colin Moriarty, ex-IGN journalist and current podcaster, shared some details about a game FireSprite is making codenamed Hearbreak. Colin went on to say he had been told the game would be set on an island and have a female (Sam?) protagonist.

Another report from 2022 claims that FireSprite was developing a “triple-A horror game” in Unreal Engine 5. And then earlier this year, a resume indicated that a FireSprite developer had been working to design “original, diverse characters, branching plit lines, lore etc, within pre-established IP.”

When everything is put together, it creates a compelling idea that FireSprite has been working on a new Until Dawn game which Ballistic Moon has handled the remake.

And let’s face it, if the remake and the movie both do well, it’d be weird if Sony didn’t capitalize and make a follow-up.
