Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Has Male And Female Character Options

0

2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey allowed players to choose their gender, picking between a man or a woman, and 2020’s game Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will carry this feature forward. Unlike in Odyssey, however, this will be the male or female version of the same character rather than one of two siblings, and we’ve gotten a look at both of them already.

In Valhalla, you play as Eivor, who is described as a “fierce Viking raider raised on tales of battle and glory.” Eivor leads a group of Norsemen that have been driven from Norway by “endless wars and dwindling resources in the ninth century CE.” Check out the images below to see the male and female versions of Eivor. The female version is included in the game’s collector’s edition.

Your journey will take you across the North Sea and into England, where players will “carve out a new future for their clan.”

“Being in Eivor’s boots as both a Viking raider and a clan leader, players will face the conflicts of establishing a new home in the midst of a power struggle for control of England,” creative director Ashraf Ismail said.

The option to play as a man or a woman was one of Odyssey’s most notable features, and it was received positively by players. Playing as either Alexios or Kassandra in that game does not affect gameplay, but does change the other character’s role in the story. However, both characters have different voice actors and character models, similar to how the male and female Commander Shepards were treated in Mass Effect. Presumably it will be the same for Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set to release in Holiday 2020 for Xbox Series X, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, Stadia, and on PC exclusively through the Epic Games Store. It will also be available as part of the UPlay+ subscription service.
