Approximately 6 years after it launched, Forza Horizon 4 will be delisted from Xbox and PC, rendering the game unplayable to all except those who already own it.
In a lengthy blog post, developer Playground Games revealed that due to “licensing and agreements with our partners” they will be officially delisting the digital version of the game from sale on December 15, 2024. In other words, after December 15 you will no longer be able to buy Forza Horizon 4 digitally.
However, they also stated that anyone who already owns the game digitally or physically will be able to keep playing offline, online, and multiplayer, indicating that the game’s servers will remain online, at least for the time being.
If you’ve played the game via Game Pass but have bought DLC, don’t fret because Playground has got you covered.
“If you played Forza Horizon 4 through Xbox Game Pass and purchased DLC content for it, worry not: by having an active, full-paid (not discounted) Xbox Game Pass subscription on 6/25 you will be eligible to receive a game token if you have purchased any extra content for Forza Horizon 4 through your Xbox Message Center,” said Playground. Codes will start to be delivered in the following days, please bear in mind that it might take a while before you get your token.”
Ahead of the game’s delisting there will be one final in-game series play through. It’ll start on July 25 and will run until August 22, at which point players will no longer be able to access the playlist screen. You will, however, still be able to see the Forza Events screen and complete daily and weekly challenges for points that can be swapped for Backstage Passes.
Speaking of which, Playground said “We will update the Backstage Pass Cars list with all the remaining cars that have previously been Festival Playlist Exclusive after Series 77.”
