During the September 2020 PlayStation 5 Showcase, Insomniac revealed the gameplay debut for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Insomniac also announced that it will be coming to PS4 as well as PS5. It’s releasing on November 12 in the US, right alongside the newly-announced date for the PS5. Other territories will get Miles Morales on November 19.

The demo showed Miles walking with a friend down the wintery streets of Harlem before transitioning to a battle on a New York City bridge. A subsequent battle scene displayed Miles using his acrobatic Spidey moves along with his unique shock powers. A cinematic then showed the bridge starting to collapse, so of course, Miles sprung into action to rescue trapped civilians. You can watch the full gameplay first-look below.

As seen in the trailer, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales sees the titular Miles donning his trademark black and red Spider-Man suit for the first time. With Peter Parker noticeably absent, Miles has to pick up the slack as New York’s resident webhead. Although he lacks the years of experience that Peter has, Miles possesses many of the same web shooter gadgets and combat abilities. He still looks a little bit rusty when it comes to web-slinging, though.

As he was bitten by a different species of spider, Miles also utilizes brand-new spider powers that Peter doesn’t have access to, such as venom stingers and camouflage. Creative director Brain Horton said that, although Miles Morales will be a shorter overall experience in comparison to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, this game will be a complete coming-of-age story for Miles that fully covers his origin story. Horton also revealed during the presentation that the Tinkerer is a major threat in this game, along with a high-tech criminal army.

According to an accompanying post on the PlayStation Blog, Miles Morales alone will cost $50, but you can get a deluxe edition that includes a digital code for the remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man for $70.

Like several PS4 games before it, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will allow you to switch between multiple modes to give you your ideal gameplay experience. When played in Performance Mode, the game will go up to 4K at 60 frames per second.
