Cyberpunk 2077 Campaign Will Be “Slightly Shorter” Than The Witcher 3

Now that Cyberpunk 2077 is only two months away, some may be wondering just how long it will take to finish the open-world action-RPG. While there isn’t an official completion number yet, developer CD Projekt Red confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077’s campaign will be “slightly shorter” than The Witcher 3‘s.

Following the studio’s third episode of Night City Wire, a regular livestream series dedicated to all things Cyberpunk 2077, senior quest designer Patrick K. Mills said Cyberpunk 2077’s campaign won’t be as long as The Witcher 3’s. This is in direct response to complaints the developer got about the length of The Witcher 3’s campaign, which can take anywhere from 50 hours to 190 hours to finish.

“We do know that the main story run in Cyberpunk 2077 is slightly shorter than The Witcher 3,” Mills said. “We got a lot of complaints about The Witcher 3’s main story just being too long. And looking at the metrics, you see tremendous numbers of people play through that game really far but never made it the end. We want you to see the whole story, so we did shorten the main story. But we have lots to do. And in terms of a completionist campaign, I just don’t have that number.”

Also during Night City Wire 3, CD Projekt Red revealed the modest PC system requirements needed to run the game. And a Chinese localization team may have disclosed just how big Cybperunk 2077 might be, with the game containing 15-20% more voice lines than The Witcher 3. This echoes previous reports of the game possibly having an 80 GB install size.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on November 19 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S and Series X. It’s slated to drop on Google Stadia sometime later this year.
